The baby bump speaks louder than words! After church, there was no way this belly was making it home without some delicious pasta from Carino's Italian. Lucky for us, church ends just as the restaurant opens and my family was the first inside the door.
As soon as we were seated, our waiter brought us a delicious loaf of bread with olive oil and roasted garlic for dipping. Immediately the kids were happy and within a few minutes, the waiter was already delivering our second loaf.
Carino's was the perfect choice for lunch for our family of 4 (+ baby-in-the-belly) because it has pizza on the kids menu. Yes!!! However, they were OUT OF PIZZA!!! What?!? I thought James was going to FLIP right then and there, until the waiter nervously said, "We have pizza pasta?" James was immediately excited, and I knew lunch was about to take a dive. "James... it's pasta. You know, noodles? But with pizza on top. Like spaghetti." He always turns his nose up at pasta at my house, but he agreed to it anyway. Leyson wanted "gill sheesh" (grilled cheese), or the Kids Panini with mozzarella but without the turkey (our waiter's brilliant idea) which also came with thin apple strips that are perfect for tiny mouths.
Overall, post-church lunch was a HUGE success! Leyson ate a lot of James' pasta too, in addition to some of his panini.
Bo and I split the chicken fettuccine alfredo and our waiter brought it out on 2 separate plates (without us even asking), instead of giving us one huge plate plus two smaller plates for us to shovel our helpings onto. This made it so much easier at our table since we didn't have one more huge plate to take up table space.
I rated it 4 out of 5 ketchup bottles because they were out of pizza and also because some of the decor was within the kids' reach. Leyson definitely took interest in a large breakable-looking jug that was placed on the half-wall between the booths... that would have been really embarrassing.
BONUS: Kids cups passed the Leyson test, the waiter gave us lots of extra napkins (without our requesting them), and definitely the PIZZA PASTA!!!
P.S. I totally recommend the Italian nachos appetizer... definite MUST if you eat here (says the baby bump).
